Is he a same-gender-loving (SGL) hero? I looked for it on internet, but I couldn’t find if he is.
But if he is not, then why this article about this comic?

Comment on Queen Team: The Early Days Of Gay League by Joe Cherry/Atlaua https://gayleague.com/queen-team-the-early-days-of-gay-league/comment-page-1/#comment-13458 Mon, 11 Apr 2022 12:15:45 +0000 https://gayleague.com/?p=27439#comment-13458 These are delightful!

I wish I could remember when I just heard, and joined the league. Certainly not as early as these posts, but I’m sure that Atlaua made his debut before 2000, having been realized visually on HeroMachine 1.

Thanks for a couple of decades of companionship and education.

Hi, Conni! Taylor’s Suicide Squad is the example of his technique that comes to mind.

He always finds a way to build the world while still making characters the focus.

Comment on Legion Of Super Heroes #1 by Kevin Oyer https://gayleague.com/legion-of-super-heroes-1/comment-page-1/#comment-13414 Sun, 10 Nov 2019 02:53:05 +0000 https://gayleague.com/?p=21829#comment-13414 Everyone expected something different from this first issue. So much so that many will be disappointed that issue #1 didn’t contain their favorite thing (spotlight their favorite Legionnaire, idea or breakfast cereal). But by all accounts this story feeds us as many tidbits as possible so as to have something to springboard off of in the upcoming issues.
One has to remember that this is the first issue of a new Legion, and although there will be some things that are familiar to us, this is a Legion we are unfamiliar with. Reading the old versions of the Legion into this one is probably the surest way to disappoint yourself.
For the moment, I am along for the ride! The art is gorgeous, and while the story seems a bit disjointed (as did Legion Millennium) I am familiar with the concept of throwing diverse ideas out there for later use and tying up the loose ends with future story-telling. So I’ll follow out this first story-arc before passing judgement on whether or not it all came together.
So far no one is spilling the beans on relationships among the Legionnaires, but to be honest I didn’t expect the old relationships to hold together in this version. Hopefully if relationships develop between any of the Legionnaires we’ll get to see the reasons for why they start and how they develop. I am hoping for a bit of diversity!
Concerning Earth… Superboy says “We have to go back in time and save the planet Earth!” To which a couple of Legionnaires reply “They did”. Now there is a common unanswered theme about Earth being destroyed that ran through Legion: Millennium, and besides this being a seeming tip of the hat to the 5YL, the way in which Earth was “damaged” hasn’t been made known – yet. Flash back to earlier in the story where Mordru asks Ultra Boy if he knows what’s in the box and what it can do, Ultra Boy answers “Yes” and “It can save a planet.” Just might be that our stalwart Legionnaires are out to put Humpty Dumpty back together again? Who knows?!!
The double page spreads didn’t upset me because it was the best way to show me as many of the legionnaires as possible in their new looks, though I’d prefer a “Lore of the Legion” type of thing or a Legion “Who’s Who” to study and memorize, I realize this is only a 20+ page comic and it would probably take 5 Giant-Sized comics to even start to satisfy me… Oh well, maybe we’ll get an Annual later on.
Is Madamehonor President Winema Wazzo, Phantom Girl’s mother? Looks like she could be, although that’s a total guess. But she has had that role in the past in the 90’s Legion.
So far, no R.J. Brande, although the founders are apparently still the founders, so maybe that’s just a story to be told yet? I also wanted to comment that it seems that this Legion may have only recently been formed as they seem to be only sort of knowledgeable about each other (as might be the case in a newly formed group). If so they certainly did a membership drive to get to the size that they are already.
I have more speculation than answers…. But plenty of excitement to see this comic succeed!
