Valentine Vuong is a mutant who grew up in the Atelier assassins guild and became a member of the organization. Much of Valentine’s past is shrouded in mystery and it is unclear if “Valentine Vuong” is even their real name, but it is the name they most commonly use.
Valentine’s mutation gave them glass arms with syringe-like needles for fingertips, as well as the ability to synthesize any chemical they can imagine within their body which they can then inject with their needle fingers. Having grown up in an assassins guild, Valentine is a formidable fighter in armed and unarmed combat.
When Deadpool and Lady Deathstrike applied to join the Atelier, Valentine served as their handler for the audition assignment to kill Doctor Octopus. Deadpool was immediately attracted to Valentine, and they were smitten by him as well and later gave shelter and assistance to Deadpool in defiance of the Atelier’s leader, the Horned Emperor, who ordered that Deadpool and Lady Deathstrike be shunned for failing the assignment.

Valentine also used their talents to help Deadpool to control and safely extract a symbiote that had been implanted inside his body by the eco-terrorist super-villain The Harrower. The symbiote ended up manifesting as a giant hyena-like dog which Deadpool named Princess and adopted as a pet/daughter.
A romance soon blossomed between Deadpool and Valentine, who is cheerful and kind but also has a mischievous nature and a dark and sometimes sadistic sense of humour which meshes well with Deadpool’s own warped personality. When the Horned Emperor learned of Valentine’s betrayal they assigned the Atelier to dispose of both Valentine and Deadpool, and the new lovers fought for their lives against multiple attacks by various assassins.
It turns out that Valentine had manipulated events because they needed Deadpool’s help to defeat the Horned Emperor and get free of the Atelier, but along the way Valentine had developed real love for Deadpool and their romance was genuine.
Valentine is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns.
Valentine first appeared in Deadpool vol.9 #1 by Alyssa Wong and Martin Coccolo.
