Detective Dan is a police detective based in Texas. He worked with the Avenger known as Lightning (Miguel Santos) who went undercover to help gather evidence to arrest a gang of car thieves. Dan and Miguel became good friends, and the relationship had started to go beyond just friendship.

After an adventure with the Avengers, Lightning returned to Texas with Red Wolf and the two of them assisted Dan and his officers in apprehending a cell of A.I.M.

It is never specified whether “Dan” is his first name or his surname; so far he has only ever been referred to as “Detective Dan” on-panel.

Detective Dan first appeared in Avengers #675 by Al Ewing, Mark Waid, Jim Zub, and Pepe Larraz.
